Jeremiah 29:11. The first verse I ever memorized. I’ve learned that it’s one thing to say the verse, and another to listen to it. “For I know the plans I have for you.” “For you.” That means God has a path that is different then your neighbor, different than your loved ones, different than your friends, but are you going to actually accept it? Are you going to actually let God take the reigns? This was something I had to learn, again, and again.
Stepping onto the mission field is a feat that I’m ecstatic to take on and see how God can use me. It’s such a humbling experience that I am consistently reminding myself how God is the root and we are the branches. A branch can grow in many directions; therefore like the branch I am making myself vulnerable towards God, allowing Him to take me where He wants me. I know through this journey, and God’s will I will reach milestones, I will plant seeds and let God take the reigns.
As World Race has began preparing me, I’ve been told it is very easy to fall under fear. The fear of overthinking which leads to possible wrong intentions of going on the trip and fundraising. Something God immediately told me is this parable. “A thief won’t go and steal into an empty house. No, he would go into a plentiful house.” Same goes for the Devil. He isn’t going to try to take what isn’t there. God gave me hope, (“They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”~Jeremiah 29:11) -and that hope, is what the Devil wants to steal.
I can be confident that the Lord will provide, and being that He is my provider, I have to know that it isn’t the supporters that are helping me achieve my fundraising goal, but God through them. It is God, and He deserves all the credit. This is why I think fundraising is so important during this process, because when we start preaching to people on the trip, we aren’t the ones supporting them. It is God rooted in us, and granted, our branches will then touch the hearts of others. Come what may, the Devil will continue to steal, and it will make our faith stronger.
